In the late autumn of 2017, the life of a young man, Devin La'Tre Fields, was tragically cut short at the age of 21. On Friday, November 10, 2017, in Henderson, Kentucky, Fields was discovered inside a vehicle at the Lawndale Apartments, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. At the time of his passing, the male victim was a resident of Oglesby, Illinois, and worked as a manager at a Jimmy John's in Peru, Illinois.
He was a graduate of Hall High School in Spring Valley.
The investigation into the death of Devin Fields led authorities to identify suspects in the case. Less than a month after the incident, on December 1, 2017, Deangelo Pollard was apprehended in Albion, Illinois, by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and the Illinois State Police. Pollard faced charges of Murder and Robbery 1st Degree in connection with Fields' death. Investigators had received information that Pollard had fled the Henderson area and was located at a residence in Albion.
The case saw a second arrest shortly thereafter. On Wednesday, December 6, 2017, a 17-year-old male was taken into custody in Owensboro, Kentucky. The teenager was charged with complicit to murder and robbery. Law enforcement had received information that the juvenile suspect had also fled and was in the Henderson/Owensboro area before he was located during a traffic stop. He was subsequently held in a juvenile detention facility.
