In the late hours of a Saturday in Bardstown, Kentucky, the life of 17-year-old Christopher Adam Metzger was tragically cut short. On May 25, 2019, police responded to a call and discovered the young man fatally shot at an apartment on Bard Avenue. Christopher, a resident of Lebanon and formerly of New Haven, was visiting a friend when the incident occurred.
Initial accounts from neighbors suggested the shooting might have been a tragic accident, a gun unintentionally discharging between
friends. However, law enforcement pursued the case as a homicide. Their investigation led to the arrest of another teenager, Jacob Fulkerson, who was 15 years old at the time of the shooting.
The investigation proceeded, and in September 2019, a grand jury indicted Fulkerson on several serious charges, moving his case to the adult court system. He was charged with wanton murder, tampering with physical evidence, and receiving a stolen firearm. A judge set his bond at $250,000 cash-only.
Christopher, born on September 25, 2001, was remembered as a young man with a promising future. He was employed as a cook at Cedarwood's Restaurant in Lebanon and was of the Christian faith. His death left a profound impact on his family, friends, and the Bardstown community, sparking conversations about juvenile justice and the devastating consequences of gun violence.
