On October 27, 2019, authorities in Pulaski County, Kentucky, responded to a distress call at a residence located on Old Cuba Road in the community of Eubank. Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officials discovered the body of Donna Lorrin Eldridge, a 30-year-old White / Caucasian female, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
Inside the home, deputies also found her husband, Bobby Edgar Eldridge, suffering from a severe gunshot wound that investigators later determined was self-inflicted. While Donna was pronounced dead at the scene, her husband was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
Detectives with the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Over the following months, evidence collected from the scene led authorities to conclude that the incident was a result of domestic violence. Investigators determined that Bobby Eldridge had shot his wife before turning the weapon on himself in a failed suicide attempt. Following his recovery and release from medical care, the investigation proceeded, and by early January 2020, officials had secured a warrant charging him with the murder of his wife.
On January 8, 2020, deputies and officers from the Somerset Police Department located the suspect at a motel in Somerset, Kentucky. When law enforcement attempted to make contact with him to serve the arrest warrant, he refused to respond to their commands. The Kentucky State Police Special Response Team was called to the scene to assist with the standoff. As the tactical team breached the hotel room door, they discovered Bobby Eldridge deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, ending the manhunt and the immediate legal proceedings related to the homicide case.
