In the quiet community of Eubank, Kentucky, 67-year-old Doris Sue Brock was found deceased in her home on North Highway 27. The discovery was made after a concerned individual reported that both Doris and her husband, James Brock, were unresponsive inside their residence. When sheriff's deputies arrived at the scene, they found Doris Brock had sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead.
Beside her, first responders found her 78-year-old husband, James, alive but
unresponsive. He was immediately transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital for what authorities suspected was a drug overdose. As the investigation into Doris's death began, detectives uncovered a tragic sequence of events that had unfolded within the walls of their home.
The investigation led authorities to believe that a verbal altercation between the couple had escalated, culminating in James Brock allegedly shooting his wife. Following the incident, it is believed James Brock then ingested a substance in an apparent overdose attempt. While still in the hospital, James Brock was served with a warrant and charged with the murder of his wife, Doris Sue Brock. An autopsy was scheduled to be performed at the Kentucky Medical Examiner's Office in Frankfort to officially determine the cause of death.
