In the early morning hours of December 8, 2019, a dispute between friends in Mayfield, Kentucky, ended in tragedy. Reggie Dowell, a 35-year-old male, was a passenger in a car with his friend, Charles Holloway, when an argument broke out between them. The disagreement escalated, and Holloway allegedly shot Dowell twice.
Following the shooting, which occurred at a gas station on US 45 N, Dowell was transported to the Jackson Purchase emergency room at approximately 2:45 a.m.
Medical personnel immediately alerted the Kentucky State Police about the gunshot victim. Despite their efforts, Reggie Dowell was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at the hospital.
While authorities were at the hospital beginning their investigation, they received word that 33-year-old Charles Holloway was at the Mayfield Police station and was turning himself in. Holloway was subsequently arrested and charged with murder. He was booked into the Graves County Jail. An autopsy for Dowell was scheduled for the following day in Madisonville. The investigation into the shooting was reported to be ongoing.
