On a Sunday afternoon in Louisville, Kentucky, the life of 28-year-old ShaKeria Abrill Blakemore was tragically cut short. On May 10, 2020, police responded to a shooting in the 5300 block of Halsey Court in the Iroquois neighborhood. Arriving at the scene around 12:45 p.m., officers discovered Blakemore and a man, later identified as 32-year-old Brandon Gibbs, both deceased.
The Jefferson County Coroner's Office confirmed that Blakemore, an African American female, died from a single
gunshot wound. Gibbs was found to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Both of their deaths were ruled as homicides. Blakemore was a mother of two and worked for the Pepsi Company. She was remembered as a loving and caring individual who always had a smile that could light up a room.
The Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit is handling the investigation into the double homicide. In the initial stages of the investigation, police had not identified any suspects and no arrests had been made. Authorities have appealed to the public for any information regarding the case, which remains unsolved.
