In the summer of 2020, a young Black/African American woman's life was tragically cut short in Louisville, Kentucky. Twenty-one-year-old Peyton Alyce' Armstead was found deceased on the evening of July 31, 2020. Born in Evansville, Indiana, on July 11, 1999, she was known for her bright eyes and a contagious smile that warmed those she met.
On that fateful Friday, Louisville Metro Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting in the California neighborhood.
In an alleyway in the 1000 block of Dr. W.J. Hodge Street, they discovered Peyton Armstead inside a vehicle alongside 25-year-old Tyus O. Sublett. Both had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the double homicide was launched by the Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit. However, the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting remain unclear. To date, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in the case, and no arrests have been made. The investigation remains ongoing as police continue to seek information from the public to bring justice for Peyton Armstead and Tyus Sublett.
