On a spring evening in Whitley City, Kentucky, a verbal dispute escalated into a fatal encounter that claimed the life of 31-year-old Brandon John Probus. On April 10, 2021, Probus was shot while sitting in the driver's seat of his vehicle outside a residence on Marshes Siding Road in McCreary County. He was a male. Emergency services transported him to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, but he was ultimately pronounced dead.
