Cris Blehar, a 65-year-old white transgender woman, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, in Vine Grove, Kentucky. A veteran of the United States Air Force, she had also retired from Continental Airlines and was working as an Uber driver at the time of her death. Known for her love of animals, she was remembered by friends and family for her unique personality and great sense of humor.
Her death was the result of a violent act.
Police discovered her body during a wellness check at a residence in Flaherty, an unincorporated area within Meade County. An investigation revealed that she had been stabbed and shot with a long rifle.
Following an investigation by the Kentucky State Police, 18-year-old Tyler Petty was arrested in connection with her death. Authorities reported that Petty admitted to killing Blehar by stabbing and shooting her. He also confessed to covering her body with clothing before leaving the scene with the firearm. According to police, there was no personal relationship between Petty and Blehar; it is believed that he had worked for her. Petty was charged with murder and was scheduled to go to trial in June 2022.
