In the summer of 2021, the life of 39-year-old Zacharey Charles Thompson Campbell tragically came to an end. The male victim, from New Burnside, Illinois, was last seen on July 14, 2021, leaving his mother's home. A few days later, on July 17, he was reported missing. His vehicle was discovered abandoned in Tiptonville, Tennessee, near Real Foot Lake Park, raising concerns for his well-being.
The search for Zacharey involved multiple law enforcement agencies and spanned across different jurisdictions. The investigation took a significant turn on July 28 when authorities arrested a man named Tyler Childers in connection with Campbell's disappearance. It was reported that Childers confessed to his involvement with the police at the time of his arrest.
Following the confession, the search for Zacharey's body intensified. On July 29, 2021, investigators located his remains down an embankment off of Bluff Road near Columbus, Kentucky. It was determined that he had been a victim of gun violence, and his death was ruled a homicide. The discovery of his body brought a devastating conclusion to his family's search.
The subsequent investigation led to a man from Illinois being charged with murder in connection with Zacharey's death.
