In the early evening of September 21, 2021, the Portland neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky, became the scene of a fatal shooting that claimed the life of 24-year-old Nubian M. Muhammad. Officers from the Louisville Metro Police Department were dispatched to the 1700 block of Bank Street around 7:15 p.m. following a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered a grim scene.
Muhammad’s body was found lying in the road, a victim of gun violence.
Nearby, another man was found suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office later officially identified the deceased as Nubian Muhammad.
