In the early morning hours of a September day in Louisville, Kentucky, a burst of violence shattered the quiet, leaving two people dead and another wounded. One of the victims was Vincent L. 'Butch' Miller, a 40-year-old man. The incident unfolded around 6:30 a.m. on September 17, 2022, in the 3200 block of Dixie Highway in the suburb of Shively.
When police arrived at the scene near Appleton Lane, they discovered three individuals had been shot.
Miller and a 28-year-old woman, Shaquila Camilla Lena 'Quay' Spratley, were pronounced dead at the location. A third victim, a woman in her 20s, was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening. Authorities soon determined that the shooting was not a random act of violence, stating that all individuals involved were known to one another.
The investigation into the double homicide led to a break in the case nearly nine months later. In June 2023, a Jefferson County grand jury indicted 28-year-old Dayshawna Harris in connection with the fatal shooting. Harris, a resident of Campbellsville, was charged with two counts of second-degree manslaughter and one count of complicity to second-degree assault.
Following the indictment, Harris was apprehended by the Campbellsville Police Department. She was subsequently lodged in the Taylor County Detention Center. At the time of her arrest, she also faced a misdemeanor charge for marijuana possession. The indictment did not provide specific details about the circumstances or motive that led to the deadly encounter on that September morning. The Shively Police Department assured the community that all parties involved in the incident had been accounted for and that there was no ongoing threat to the public.
