In the early morning hours of September 17, 2022, a tragic shooting in Shively, Kentucky, claimed the lives of 28-year-old Shaquila Spratley and 40-year-old Vincent Miller. The incident, which was not a random act of violence, occurred around 6:30 a.m. in the 3200 block of Dixie Highway. A third victim, a woman in her 20s, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities confirmed that all individuals involved were acquainted with one another.
Shaquila, known affectionately as 'Quay,' was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on April 20, 1994. She was a devoted mother to her two children, Johnny and Dallas. Friends and family remember her for a vibrant personality, an infectious laugh, and a deep love for spending time with her loved ones. A fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the color purple, she had pursued a career in customer service after attending Seneca High School.
Following an extensive investigation into the fatal shooting, a Jefferson County Grand Jury indicted 28-year-old Dayshawna Harris. Harris faces charges of two counts of second-degree manslaughter and one count of complicity to second-degree assault. She was arrested in Campbellsville, Kentucky, and is currently incarcerated at the Taylor County Detention Center. Shively police have stated that all individuals involved in the incident have been accounted for, and there is no ongoing threat to the community. While an arrest has been made, the investigation into the motive for the shooting is still ongoing.
