In Park Rapids, Minnesota, a tragic event unfolded on the evening of March 22, 2011, ending the life of 45-year-old Dawn Marie Sanquist Anderson, a White/Caucasian female. The incident began with a desperate 911 call from Dawn's residence, which abruptly ended. When law enforcement arrived at the home, they discovered a grim scene on the front deck.
Dawn had been fatally shot. Nearby, authorities also found the body of her estranged husband, Gregory Duane Anderson.
The couple's 20-year-old son provided a harrowing account of the events that transpired. He informed police that his father had entered the house and warned him to leave to avoid being harmed. His mother, in fear for her life, had locked herself in a bedroom.
Gregory Anderson, however, broke down the door and pursued his estranged wife downstairs with a hunting rifle. The son recounted running out of the house and hearing his mother's scream. Recognizing the potential for danger, Dawn had previously secured a restraining order against him. Additionally, a prior conviction legally prohibited him from owning a firearm.
