On November 13, 2014, 14-year-old Levi Cole Roggenkamp from Bluffton, Minnesota, suffered a tragic accident at his home near Wadena. While playing with a. 38 caliber revolver, the firearm discharged, inflicting a critical gunshot wound to his head. Levi was immediately transported to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, where he succumbed to his injuries the following day, November 14, 2014.
Levi was known for his love of outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing, boating, and horseback riding. He attended New York Mills High School and was cherished by family and friends for his enthusiasm for anything with a motor or skis. One of his favorite sayings was, 'Don't worry, I will fix it.'
In the wake of this tragedy, Levi's family honored his prior decision to be an organ donor. His organs were donated to at least five individuals, including an 11-month-old girl who received his liver, providing a second chance at life for these recipients.
Authorities determined that Levi's death was the result of an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound. There were no arrests or suspects involved in this incident, as it was concluded to be a tragic accident.
A funeral service was held on November 20, 2014, at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Bluffton, where family and friends gathered to celebrate Levi's life. Attendees were encouraged to wear camouflage and western clothing, reflecting his love for the outdoors.
