In September of 2015, Ramona Ann Turner, a 54-year-old female, was tragically killed in her home in the Dayton's Bluff neighborhood of Saint Paul, Minnesota. Her life was cut short on September 17th, when she was fatally shot. The incident was a result of domestic violence, a culmination of a decades-long relationship that had taken a turn towards its end.
Just two weeks prior to her death, Ramona had informed her partner of 40 years, John Weisner, that she intended to leave him.
On that fateful day, Weisner, after hearing Ramona on the phone with another man, acted on his distress. He shot his longtime partner, ending her life. In the immediate aftermath, one of their two sons intervened, taking the gun from his father who had planned to then take his own life. Prevented from using the firearm on himself, Weisner instead turned a kitchen knife on himself, inflicting stab wounds.
Following the investigation into Ramona's death, John Weisner was arrested and subsequently charged. He later pleaded guilty to the killing of his partner. In March of 2016, Weisner was sentenced to 25 ½ years in prison for the murder of Ramona Turner, bringing a legal conclusion to a deeply personal and tragic event.
