On July 2, 2013, Terrence Graves, aged 23, was fatally shot while working as a newspaper vendor on the South Side of Chicago. The shooting took place around 5:30 a.m. at the intersection of 99th and Halsted streets, near a BP gas station. Graves was selling newspapers and fruit when two men approached him and opened fire.
