Ed Cooper, aged 15, was shot and killed on July 8, 2013, in Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred in the 600 block of North Lawndale Avenue while Cooper was playing basketball. The shooting took place in broad daylight, and Ed was struck in the chest. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
