In the afternoon hours of a spring day in Minneapolis, a conversation on a north Minneapolis street turned fatal for I Am King Majesty Allah. The 20-year-old Black male was standing outside a vehicle on April 20, 2022, on the 5100 block of Bryant Avenue North, speaking with the occupants inside. Suddenly, the conversation was shattered by the sound of gunfire.
Shots were fired from within the car, striking Allah.
As he fell to the ground with a severe gunshot wound, the vehicle immediately sped away from the scene, leaving him behind. Officers arrived around 4:50 p.m. to find the young man in the street and administered medical aid until emergency responders could take over.
Allah was transported to North Memorial Health hospital, where he fought for his life for two days. His struggle ended on April 22, 2022, when he succumbed to a gunshot wound to the head. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office officially ruled his death a homicide. Despite the investigation by the Minneapolis Police Department, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The vehicle and the individuals inside remain at large.
