Tristan Trice, a 38-year-old Black/African American man from Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, lost his life in a shooting in Saint Paul’s Frogtown neighborhood. The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, May 20, 2022, and was one of three separate fatal shootings that took place in the city over a violent six-hour span.
At 12:15 a.m., a woman called 911 to report that a man had been shot.
When officers arrived at the scene near the intersection of Sherburne Avenue and North Mackubin Street, they found Tristan Trice inside a vehicle, suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics rushed him to Regions Hospital for emergency treatment, but he died during surgery a few hours later.
Authorities described the shooting as a domestic dispute. At the scene, police took a 28-year-old woman into custody and arrested her on suspicion of aggravated assault. She was booked into the Ramsey County jail.
The woman was released from jail that Sunday. As of late May 2022, investigators had not presented the case to the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office for review, and no formal charges had been filed.
