Lterrcik Benion, a 23-year-old resident of Chicago, was fatally shot on July 29, 2013. The homicide took place in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the city's South Side, a community that had been struggling with high levels of gun violence at the time. Benion was found with multiple gunshot wounds after an unknown assailant approached him. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.
