In the early morning hours of Friday, November 2, 2018, the life of 27-year-old Hispanic male, Esteban Arzate, was tragically cut short in Liberal, Kansas. Arzate was brought to the Southwest Medical Center by two unidentified males, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The Liberal Police Department swiftly launched a homicide investigation into Arzate's death.
Their inquiries led them to a residence in the 700 block of N. Pennsylvania Avenue, where they executed a search warrant and discovered evidence connected to the shooting. As the investigation progressed, authorities sought to speak with several individuals believed to be potential witnesses to the violent event.
Later that same day, at approximately 6:48 p.m., a significant development occurred in the case. A 36-year-old male was taken into custody in connection with the death of Esteban Arzate. The unnamed suspect was subsequently booked into the Seward County Jail on a charge of second-degree murder. Following the arrest, the case was to be forwarded to the Seward County Attorney's Office for the consideration of formal charges. The investigation was reported as ongoing, and authorities encouraged anyone with information to come forward.
