In the late hours of August 19, 2020, a burst of violence in Wichita, Kansas, claimed the life of 23-year-old Kylie LeAnn Marie Scott, a White female. The incident unfolded around 9:20 p.m. when police were dispatched to a business in the 900 block of North Grove following reports of a shooting.
At the same time, a call came in from a local hospital about a shooting victim who had just been brought in. That victim was Kylie Scott, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
A 54-year-old man, who had also been shot, drove her to the hospital. He was treated for his injuries and subsequently released. Tragically, Kylie succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
Investigators quickly determined that the shooting was not a random act of violence. In the days following the incident, the Wichita Police Department appealed to the public for any information that might lead to an understanding of the events of that night and who was involved. Despite their efforts, as of early 2021, the case into Kylie Scott's death remained open. Online sources and news reports available have not publicly identified any suspects or announced any arrests in connection with her murder.
