In the fall of 2021, the life of a young Caucasian woman, 18-year-old Jase Elizabeth Delich, was tragically cut short in Pittsburg, Kansas. On the evening of October 16th, a chilling discovery was made at an apartment located at 415 S. Broadway Street. A caller reported finding the apartment door open and, upon looking inside, saw a woman lying on the floor bleeding.
First responders and police who arrived at the scene pronounced Jase Elizabeth Delich deceased.
Evidence gathered at the apartment indicated that she had been shot with a handgun. The Pittsburg Police Department immediately launched a homicide investigation into what they believed to be an isolated incident.
Through the review of surveillance footage from the area and interviews with witnesses, investigators were swiftly able to identify a suspect. The focus of their investigation turned to 23-year-old Bri'yon Ezra Baker of Tennessee. Information suggested that Baker was likely on foot in the vicinity without transportation.
In the early hours of October 17th, at approximately 12:00 a.m., police located Baker walking near the intersection of 16th Street and Joplin Street. He was taken into custody without incident, and a handgun was found in his possession. Following questioning, Bri'yon Ezra Baker was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He was booked into the Crawford County Jail, with his bond set at $1,000,000. The Crawford County Prosecutor formally charged Baker in connection with the death of Jase Delich.
