On a tragic Friday in Pittsburg, Kansas, the life of Stephanie Marie Short, a 40-year-old mother and grandmother, was cut short. On May 13, 2022, she passed away in her home from what would be determined to be a homicide. Her death was the result of a shooting incident that also left another woman, Velma Marie Cubie, injured. The event prompted an intensive investigation involving the Pittsburg Police Department, the Crawford County Sheriff's Office, and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
