In the early evening of January 10, 2022, the life of Spencer Jones, a 25-year-old Black / African American male, was tragically cut short in Kansas City, Kansas. Responding to a call of shots fired at approximately 5:06 p.m., police arrived at the River Oaks Manufactured Home Community near South 74th Terrace and Buttonwood Avenue. Inside a residence, they discovered Spencer Jones, who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

was quickly ruled a homicide, marking the second such case in Kansas City, Kansas, for that year. Investigators began the arduous task of piecing together the events that led to the fatal shooting. However, details regarding the circumstances of the incident or a potential motive have remained elusive to the public.
