A quiet neighborhood in Overland Park, Kansas, became the scene of a tragic discovery on the morning of April 7, 2022. Inside a home on Nieman Road, police found the bodies of 71-year-old Johnnie Lee Hill, a male, along with 64-year-old Susan Hill and 34-year-old Desiree Hill. The authorities had been dispatched to the residence to conduct a welfare check after a concerned individual was unable to make contact with the family members inside.
Upon entering the home, officers were met with
a grim scene. All three individuals, as well as a dog, were found deceased from gunshot wounds. The subsequent investigation into the deaths led police to believe the incident was a murder-suicide. Authorities have stated they are confident that one of the three family members was responsible for the shootings and that they are not actively searching for any other suspects in connection with the case.
The discovery sent a shockwave through the community, as friends and neighbors learned of the violent end to the lives of the Hill family. While the investigation remains ongoing, the Overland Park Police Department has not publicly identified which of the deceased individuals they believe was the perpetrator. The case marked the second and third homicides in the city for that year.
