In the pre-dawn hours of July 25, 2022, a single gunshot echoed through a Chanute, Kansas neighborhood, forever altering the course of many lives. Responding to a 911 call from a concerned citizen, police discovered the body of Blake A. Pearson, a 34-year-old male from Topeka, in an alley east of 1706 S. Highland. A bystander was administering CPR when officers arrived, a desperate attempt to fend off the inevitable.
