Jeremy Michael Boorda, aged 56, was a distinguished United States Navy admiral who served as the 25th Chief of Naval Operations. On May 16, 1996, Boorda died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest at his residence in Washington, D.C. He was discovered outside his quarters at the Navy Yard and was pronounced dead at D.C.
