In the winter of 2014, the life of 26-year-old Jason Emuel Bryant, a Black male from Washington, D.C., was tragically cut short. On the evening of February 28th, a burst of gunfire erupted in the 5000 block of Lee Street in Northeast Washington. When the violence ceased, Jason and his 34-year-old brother, Khalid Jamal Bryant, were both found suffering from gunshot wounds. The incident, which occurred around 7:45 p.m., left Jason dead at the scene.
His brother was rushed to a nearby hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries as well. The double homicide was part of a wave of violence that swept through the city, marking them as two of several individuals killed in a short period.
