Zaire Kelly, a 16-year-old student from Washington, DC, tragically lost his life on September 20, 2017. Zaire was a student at Thurgood Marshall Academy and was walking home from a convenience store near 13th Street and Downing Street at around 9:15 p.m. when the incident occurred. According to reports, Zaire was confronted by a man attempting to rob him. In an act of self-defense, Zaire managed to fatally stab his attacker before succumbing to his own injuries.
