On the evening of August 26, 2020, a 49-year-old Black/African American man named Kim Maurice Cooke, a resident of Waldorf, Maryland, was fatally shot in the Deanwood neighborhood of Washington, D.C. The incident occurred shortly before 8:30 p.m. in the 5000 block of Jay Street, Northeast.
