On August 26, 2020, Kim Maurice Cooke, a 49-year-old resident of Waldorf, Maryland, was found fatally shot in the Deanwood neighborhood of Washington, D.C. The Metropolitan Police Department responded to the scene just before 8:30 p.m., where they discovered Cooke suffering from a gunshot wound.
