On a Sunday morning in Washington, D.C., violence shattered the quiet of the Carver/Langston area. On June 5, 2022, 31-year-old Martinez Johnson was fatally shot in the 1600 block of Maryland Avenue, Northeast. The incident occurred around 9:03 a.m., when police responded to a report of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, officers from the Fifth District of the Metropolitan Police Department discovered Johnson suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. D.C.
Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel who responded to the scene determined that he showed no signs of life and he died at the location. Johnson's body was later transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. He was a resident of Northeast, D.C.
Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department are leading the investigation into Johnson's death. Authorities have offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this homicide. Investigators were reportedly looking for a small white car that may have been connected to the shooting, occupied by four women and one man. The police have asked for the public's assistance, encouraging anyone with information to contact them directly or to submit anonymous tips through their text tip line.
