In the early morning hours of July 29, 2014, the life of 51-year-old Jesse Vigil came to a violent end on a sidewalk in Henderson, Nevada. The fatal encounter began with a routine traffic stop. An officer observed Vigil riding his bicycle against a red light at the intersection of Horizon Drive and Boulder Highway and initiated a stop in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven.
