In the winter of 2015, the life of Rodney Waymon Primm, a 43-year-old Black / African American man, was tragically cut short in Las Vegas, Nevada. On the evening of Monday, January 12th, Primm was found shot to death inside an apartment in the 700 block of Jackson Avenue. The preliminary investigation suggested that the fatal shooting stemmed from an argument that had broken out among several people inside the residence.
Witnesses at the scene reported hearing a number of gunshots before
seeing two men and a woman hastily leaving the apartment. Following the incident, at least one of these individuals fled in Rodney Primm's car. The vehicle was later discovered abandoned by police officers less than two miles away, in the 2200 block of West Bonanza Road. While his family described him as a good person who was always there for others, they were left grappling with the sudden and violent loss, believing he was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. The grief for his sister was compounded by the fact that their other sister had passed away from cancer on the very same day nine years prior.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, law enforcement officials stated that the motive for the killing was unknown. Despite witness accounts of three people leaving the scene of the crime, no suspects were publicly identified in connection with the shooting. As of the days following the incident, no arrests had been reported, leaving the case unresolved and his loved ones without answers.
