In the early morning hours of April 30, 2016, the body of 32-year-old Samuel Magana, a male, was discovered lying unresponsive in a street in a northeast Las Vegas neighborhood. First responders arrived at the scene on the 4100 block of Sunrise Avenue, near Sandhill Road, before 6:30 a.m. to find that Magana had sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department quickly determined that the location where
Magana was found was not the place where he had been shot. Evidence suggested that he had been killed at another location and his body was subsequently left in the roadway. The Clark County Coroner's Office officially identified Samuel Magana and confirmed the cause of his death.
In the days following the discovery of Magana's body, police continued their investigation into the homicide.
