On March 6, 2019, Naajee Johnson, a 23-year-old Black/African American male, was tragically killed while working as a security guard at a construction site in a developing North Las Vegas neighborhood. He was discovered in his vehicle by construction workers who arrived at the site near Desert Senna Avenue and Evening Snow Court around 10 a.m. Johnson had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Just a month prior, Johnson had taken on the security job to help with his grandmother's expenses.
Authorities believe the shooting occurred hours before he was found, at approximately 4 a.m. Residents in the area reported hearing gunshots but did not alert the police. The investigation was further complicated by a rainstorm that had washed away potential forensic evidence from the crime scene.
In the immediate aftermath, the North Las Vegas Police Department had very few leads and were unable to identify a suspect or a motive for the homicide. They made a public appeal for anyone with information to come forward. There have been no subsequent news reports indicating that an arrest has been made in connection with the shooting of Naajee Johnson.
