In the summer of 2021, the life of Leana Flowers, a 32-year-old Black woman, was tragically cut short in her Las Vegas apartment. On the evening of August 6th, police responded to a call of a shooting at the Summerhill Apartments. Upon arrival, they discovered Flowers suffering from a gunshot wound. She was rushed to University Medical Center, but her injury, a gunshot wound to the chest, proved fatal.
The investigation into her death revealed a chaotic scene.
Flowers had been in her apartment with at least five other individuals when the shooting occurred. According to police, a man who was inside the apartment with her used a high-powered rifle to shoot her. In the immediate aftermath, several people, including the man identified as the shooter, fled the residence before law enforcement could arrive.
The Clark County coroner's office officially ruled Leana Flowers' death a homicide. Despite the presence of multiple witnesses in the apartment at the time of the shooting, the investigation has been met with challenges. The relationship between Flowers and the suspected shooter remains unclear. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with her murder, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has continued to appeal to the public for any information that might lead to an arrest in the ongoing investigation.
