On June 14, 1979, 21-year-old Jill Marie Parenteau was found dead in her Burbank, California apartment. The circumstances of her death were gruesome and indicative of a violent and predatory crime. Parenteau, a computer keypunch operator, had left work early to attend a baseball game but never made it to the event.
