On June 14, 1979, 21-year-old Jill Marie Parenteau was found dead in her Burbank, California apartment. The circumstances of her death were gruesome and indicative of a violent and predatory crime. Parenteau, a computer keypunch operator, had left work early to attend a baseball game but never made it to the event. When she failed to report to work the following morning, police were alerted and went to her apartment, where they discovered signs of forced entry.
