Phoenix police on Monday identified a 27-year-old woman who they say was shot to death on Friday night in central Phoenix.

Donna Nez was found wounded at about 10 p.m. Friday near 16th Avenue and Camelback Road, according to police spokesman Sgt. Steve Martos.

Martos said officers discovered Nez while responding to a shots-fired call. Nez was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead, according to Martos.
