In the early morning hours of July 8, 1987, a distressing 911 call led Wheat Ridge police officers to the Vickers Gas Station/Convenience Store on West 44th Avenue. Inside, they discovered the night clerk, Craig Lee Bishop, a 29-year-old White male, on the floor behind the counter near the cash register. He had sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound.
