On July 14, 1993, the body of 43-year-old John Kaesik, a white male, was discovered off an embankment along Highway 103, approximately 7.7 miles south of Idaho Springs in Clear Creek County, Colorado. An investigation determined that he had been fatally shot in the head, and his death was classified as a homicide.
Authorities learned that Kaesik was involved in low-level drug dealing, specifically marijuana and cocaine. Investigators believe he may have been engaged in a drug transaction at the time of his murder. The case remains unsolved, with no arrests having been made and no suspects publicly identified.
Nearly two months after the discovery of his body, on September 7, 1993, Kaesik's black GMC Jimmy was located by the Wheat Ridge Police Department at the intersection of I-70 and Kipling. During the course of the investigation, it was also noted that he was a frequent patron of The Cinch Bar, which at the time was located at 8101 Washington Street in Adams County. The Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office continues to request that anyone with information regarding the case come forward.
