On April 17, 1999, 42-year-old Richard Stephen Elliott was fatally shot in the parking lot of Alfalfa's Market at 900 E. 11th Avenue in Denver, Colorado. Elliott, a computer engineer employed by a small company in Colorado Springs, had just completed grocery shopping with his five-year-old daughter, Isabel.
