On a spring evening in Denver, Colorado, the life of Richard Stephen Elliott, a 42-year-old Caucasian male, was abruptly ended in a shocking act of violence. The date was April 17, 1999, and Elliott, a computer engineer, had just finished grocery shopping with his five-year-old daughter at Alfalfa's Market on East 11th Avenue.
