On April 16, 2006, at approximately 9:57 p.m., the Aurora Police Department received a distressing call reporting a single gunshot and the sound of moaning coming from an apartment at 17103 East Ohio Place. Officers were dispatched to the scene, where they were met with a grim discovery.
Inside apartment #105, with the door partially ajar, lay Renauldo Cadogan, who was found to be deceased. He had sustained a single, fatal gunshot wound to his chest. As detectives from the Major Crimes/Homicide Unit began their investigation, they conducted a canvass of the area, but no eyewitnesses to the shooting were located.
