In the winter of 2016, a young man's life was tragically cut short in what would become the first homicide of the year for Pueblo, Colorado. Chuck Quintana-Ortega, a 21-year-old male, was at the Casa Del Sol apartments on Constitution Road on February 6th when a dispute escalated to fatal violence. In an apartment filled with the tension of an argument, shots rang out, and when police arrived, they found Quintana-Ortega had been shot and killed.
The suddenness of the event left neighbors in the community shaken and concerned for their own safety.
The investigation into the death of Chuck Quintana-Ortega led Pueblo police to a suspect. Clinton Loonsfoot, who was 35 years old at the time of his plea, was identified and arrested in connection with the shooting. He was initially charged with the serious offense of first-degree murder, suggesting a deliberate act.
