In May of 2017, a young man's life was tragically cut short in what should have been the safety of his own home. Timothy Anderson, a 27-year-old male, was killed on May 16, 2017, during a home invasion in Denver's Southmoor neighborhood. Anderson, an aspiring artist and writer, was shot multiple times while defending the residence. The incident was part of a larger series of break-ins that occurred the same night, believed to be the work of a burglary ring.
The investigation into
Anderson's murder led to the identification of four suspects. The first to be taken into custody was a 15-year-old, Zjiahnni Lacour, who turned herself in to the police. The primary suspect, 17-year-old Dmarco Blake, fled to California. His time as a fugitive was short-lived, as he was arrested in Torrance, California, while in the commission of another home invasion where he attacked a 70-year-old woman. Two other adults, Demond Hamilton and Keione Clark, were also apprehended in connection with the crime spree.
Ultimately, the four individuals involved faced justice for their roles in the death of Timothy Anderson. Dmarco Blake was extradited back to Denver, tried as an adult, and found guilty of first-degree murder and two counts of first-degree burglary. He was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 40 years. Demond Hamilton was convicted of felony murder and two counts of first-degree burglary, receiving a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. Keione Clark pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 45 years in prison. The juvenile, Zjiahnni Lacour, pleaded guilty to accessory to murder, aggravated robbery, and being an aggravated juvenile offender.
