In a quiet home in Pueblo West, Colorado, the life of 10-year-old Stephie Beatrice Rose Hamula was tragically cut short on August 14, 2017. The young female was found deceased in her home alongside her 42-year-old mother, Jennifer Hamula, and their two dogs. A concerned family member had requested a welfare check, leading sheriff's deputies to the grim discovery on Mescal Drive.
Subsequent investigation by the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office revealed a heart-wrenching sequence of events.
Authorities determined that Jennifer Hamula shot and killed her daughter, Stephie, as well as the two family dogs, before turning the gun on herself. Autopsies confirmed that Stephie died from multiple gunshot wounds, while her mother sustained a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound.
In the wake of the tragedy, investigators interviewed Jennifer Hamula's estranged spouse and other family members. These interviews uncovered no evidence to suggest the involvement of any other individuals in the deaths. Based on the evidence gathered at the scene and the information obtained through their investigation, authorities officially ruled the case a murder-suicide. With the perpetrator deceased, the investigation concluded that no outside suspects were sought, and no arrests were made in connection with Stephie's death.
