In the city of Pueblo, Colorado, a young woman's life was tragically cut short in an act of violence that left a community in mourning. Kaylie Marcum, a 23-year-old female, was fatally shot on March 14, 2022, at the Riverside Bar and Grill. Known to some as Kaylie Lints, she was a mother to a young son and remembered by her family as a loving, passionate, and happy aspiring artist who consistently put the needs of others before her own.
The events leading up to her death began with a dispute with her ex-boyfriend, 34-year-old Jesse Grondahl, who was also the father of her three-year-old son. According to reports, the conflict started on the Sunday prior to the shooting when Grondahl allegedly hid Kaylie's keys to prevent her from leaving. Despite this, a friend picked her up, and they went to the bar.
Later that evening, Grondahl appeared at the Riverside Bar and Grill. He attempted to speak with Kaylie, who expressed that his presence was making her uncomfortable. In a chilling turn of events, he reportedly responded that things were 'going to get a lot more uncomfortable' before he shot her. Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 12:15 in the morning, where they found Kaylie Marcum deceased.
Pueblo Police promptly took Jesse Grondahl into custody in connection with the shooting. He was subsequently booked at the Pueblo Judicial Center for First Degree Murder. The incident was classified by law enforcement as a domestic violence-related homicide. Friends and family remembered Kaylie as a dedicated mother who was furthering her education to enter the healthcare field while working a full-time job. Her family expressed that they had long suspected she was a victim of domestic violence but believed she was hesitant to leave for fear of losing her son.
