In the summer of 2018, the life of 18-year-old William Alexander Bacorn, a male resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado, came to a violent end. On July 22nd, events unfolded that would leave two men dead, including Bacorn himself. Authorities had identified him as a suspect in the shooting death of 46-year-old Gustavo Del Sol Sanchez, which occurred during a robbery at a marijuana grow in El Paso County earlier that same day.
Another man was critically injured in that incident but managed to drive himself to a hospital.
Following the initial shooting, law enforcement tracked Bacorn to a home east of Colorado Springs. A SWAT team was involved in the attempt to apprehend him, leading to a tense and ultimately fatal confrontation. Bacorn was armed with a shotgun and, according to reports from the El Paso County Sheriff, exchanged gunfire with the officers. During this shootout, Bacorn was killed. An El Paso County deputy was also injured by shrapnel during the exchange of gunfire and received treatment at a local hospital.
In the aftermath of the two deaths, the investigation into the death of Gustavo Del Sol Sanchez led to the arrest of two other men, aged 20 and 26, who faced charges of murder and burglary. The shooting involving William Alexander Bacorn was investigated by the Colorado Springs Police Department. In December 2018, the district attorney's office announced its findings, concluding that the El Paso County deputy was justified in the fatal shooting of Bacorn, stating that Bacorn had pointed a shotgun at the deputy.
