In the winter of 2020, a domestic tragedy unfolded in an Aurora, Colorado, apartment that ended the life of 67-year-old Mae Rose Garth. On the morning of January 27th, police responded to a report of a shooting at a residence on North Potomac Street. Inside, they discovered Mae Rose Garth suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital but ultimately succumbed to her injuries.
At the scene of the incident, law enforcement took a 41-year-old man into custody who was later identified as Tyrone Garth, the victim's son. He was subsequently arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with his mother's death. Investigators confirmed that the shooting was an isolated event and that there was no ongoing threat to the public.
The Arapahoe County Coroner's Office officially identified the victim as Mae Rose Garth and ruled her death a homicide. Court records indicated that Tyrone Garth had a criminal history with several prior arrests for various offenses. The case was set to be prosecuted by the 18th Judicial District Attorney's Office, leaving a family torn apart by an act of violence.
